Dibyo Singho Barua Subrajit portrait

the author

Subrajit

Writer · Dhaka

Subro writes to শ্রী, whether or not she's still reading. His work returns, again and again, to rain, trains, and a name he can't stop reaching for: these pieces started as things too specific to say out loud, and stayed that way. He writes in Bengali because some griefs don't survive translation.

This site collects what was written to be read by one person, and ended up read by everyone else instead.

about this place

A garden of quiet devotion

I write because some feelings leave behind more evidence than silence could hold: a diary, a pink envelope, a train that pulled away exactly on time. I kept a question unanswered so long it became a refrain: Tomar ki mon kharap?

This site is not meant to be found. If you are here, you already know what it costs to keep writing letters you never send, in Bengali and English, sometimes in the same sentence.

Everything here is inspired. The names are changed. The feelings and the flowers, are not.

"She is the one line I've written a thousand times and not once yet got right."
